What do I do? I exercise, eat whole organic foods and supplement my diet with glyconutrients, vitamins and minerals, essential amino acids and antioxidants, I drink filtered antioxidant/alkaline water... People ask me isn't that expensive? No! It is "my health insurance", what we pay for is sickness insurance. Our insurance programs aren't about staying healthy, but about covering the cost of illness and disease. So when I spend the equivalent of a cup of some very famous coffee a day on "my HEALTH insurance" program, I feel that I am getting a very good deal.
I recommend some basics to everyone
- Engage in healthy relationships and keep a positive outlook
- Set time aside to reflect and meditate; finding that peaceful moment with the Creator
- Eat whole organic, unprocessed foods
- Eat low glycemic foods (these are presented in our program, or you can google a list)
- Eat right for your nutritional type - Health4Life and I offer nutritional typing to help you feel your best
- Exercise - Do it all - Cardio for your heart and lungs, resistance or strength training to maintain healthy muscle and bones, a flexibility program and a balance workout. You need all types.
- Keep well hydrated. Drink 8 glasses of filtered (preferably antioxidant/alkaline) water a day, more if it is hot or if you are active
- Supplement your diet with a GOOD multivitamin and mineral product. I am not talking about the synthetic kind you find at the corner store, but a good plant based or fermented vitamin that is made using the best manufacturing practices available, so you get the best bioavailability and consistency and you get what it says you are getting. - Include Glyconutrients - (essential sugars like glucosamine (surprise you that glucosamine is a sugar?)) are a missing piece in the health puzzle. It has been found that our modern diets contain just two of the eight sugars that are essential for cellular function & communication. When all eight sugars are provided, the body has what it needs to communicate properly and to do what it was designed to do. Ever have syllables dropped on a cell phone call and just hear "blips?" you can't understand what is being said, there is miscommunication. The same is true with cellular communication. When even one sugar is missing, the cells cannot communicate their needs or function optimally. You need all of the "words" to make it work.
- Build up your Vitamin D3 level - with 2000-5000 units of Vitamin D3 a day and 10-15 minutes of sunshine!
- Take your Omega 3s. Make sure they are distilled or purified and free of heavy metals, and that they are just Omega 3s. You do not need to supplement 6s and 9s.
- Use the right kind of Antioxidant. Did you know that most antioxidants you purchase have lost their potency by the time you purchase them? Why? Because they do what antioxidants do - they oxidize! That is, they react when they are exposed to air, and most are exposed to air after they are made and when they are sitting on the shelf, so you are in fact, paying for a bottle of nothing! You want to choose one that has been designed to work only after you take it. Did you also know that when you combine antioxidants in the wrong way, that they actually form free radicals but when you combine them in the right way they have a multiplicative effect in protecting you? You need to be savvy about what you are giving yourself.
- Make sure you are getting your essential proteins or amino acids. These are powerhouse building blocks for muscle, brain function and endocrine support.
- Maintain a detoxification program: Twice a year (if healthy - otherwise you may need to do this more often) do a gentle detox and GI restoration program to remove yeast, bacteria and parasites from your body and to promote good GI health. Use Zeolite on a regular basis to bind and remove heavy metals and chemicals from your body. Soak your fruits and veggies in ionized, antioxidant water to remove pesticides and chemicals from them before eating.
- Rest(ore) yourself with adequate sleep(at least 7-8 hours a night) and play! This helps your immune system as well as your state of mind.
